With the change of modern lifestyle and the wide application of various electronic products, the incidence of ophthalmopathy in children is gradually increasing, especially the people with myopia are becoming younger and younger, and the problems of eye hygiene are becoming more and more prominent. In order to meet the growing social needs, the hospital established the Department of Ophthalmology in January 2014, which mainly covers three aspects: child eye care, clinical ophthalmology and pediatric optometry. At present, it has 5 ophthalmological personnel, including 1 associate chief physician, 1 attending physician (master of ophthalmology), 1 resident physician, and 2 optometrists.

At present, the Department of Ophthalmology has such equipment as slit lamp, direct funduscope, three-mirror contact lens, retinal detector, visual screening instrument, computer refractometer, corneal topography, biometer, non-contact ophthalmometer, pupil-free fundus camera, and Recam- wide-area imaging system (premature fundus screening instrument), etc. and children's medical optometry center.Main business: 1. Eye Optometry: It carries out scientific diagnosis, mydriasis retinoscopy, optometry and follow-up amblyopia training and treatment for myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, oblique amblyopia and other eye optic problems for children and adolescents. In addition, it provides health guidance for infant eye development and eye care for children and adolescents.2. Eye Care Outpatients:  It carries out eye care examination for children aged 0-6 years. Through eye care education, visual acuity assessment and related eye disease screening, it intends to early detect eye diseases affecting children's visual development and early correct the problems to protect and promote the normal development of children's visual function.3. Ophthalmology Outpatients: It carries out the screening for fundus retinopathy of newborns/premature infants, the diagnosis and treatment of eyelid disease, nasolacrimal duct obstruction, dacryocystitis, conjunctivitis, keratitis, iridociliary inflammation, and other common eye diseases, as well as preliminary screening and diagnosis of congenital cataract and fundus disease in children. At present, the Department has Recam- wide-area fundus imaging system, which is the only accurate imaging equipment for early screening and diagnosis of the fundus retinopathy of newborns/premature infants in Sanya. In addition, this year, with the support of hospital leaders, the Department added a non-mydriatic fundus camera for screening fundus diseases in adults and high-risk pregnant women (pregnancy-induced hypertension and gestational diabetes, etc.), providing a reference for the evaluation of the whole body of pregnant women.

The eyes are the windows of the heart and determine the future of our children. We will continue to study new technology, new ideas to protect the eye health of the children in Sanya. What we do today is for better tomorrow of our children. Let us guard the beautiful tomorrow of our children together.
